Youth Devotional With Mark Hall

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.  ~Phil 2:1-4 (ESV)

This is one of ten video devotionals produced by Mark Hall of the group Casting Crowns for radio station KLOVE.  Mark is also the author of The Well.  Here in part four, he looks at the Biblical way to restore a friendship or relationship that has become fractured or damaged.

Notes on Mending a Broken Friendship
1) Start with prayer

Phil 4:6(NIV) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

2) Go promptly

Eph 4:26b(NIV) Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry

*Matt 5: 23-24 (MSG)This is how I want you to conduct yourself in these matters. If you enter your place of worship and, about to make an offering, you suddenly remember a grudge a friend has against you, abandon your offering, leave immediately, go to this friend and make things right. Then and only then, come back and work things out with God.

3) Go privately

*Matt 18:15(NIV) “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over…

4) Gotta be patient

*Eccl 11:1 (NCV) Invest what you have,
because after a while you will get a return.

* = some suggested scriptures we’ve added to Mark’s outline.
